Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (MARDE) of Cyprus is the national authority responsible for agricultural policy, environmental protection, natural resources management, and rural development. MARDE plays a central role in shaping and implementing policies that promote sustainable land use, soil conservation, and climate adaptation at national level.

Role within Nemesis

Within Nemesis, MARDE contributes policy expertise and facilitates alignment between project activities and national and European soil-related strategies. The ministry supports the implementation of the Cyprus Living Lab by connecting relevant authorities, land managers, and stakeholders, ensuring that proposed solutions are practical and policy-relevant. MARDE helps integrate project findings into existing regulatory frameworks and rural development instruments, strengthening the link between research, practice, and decision-making. Through its institutional role, the ministry enhances the project’s long-term impact by promoting the uptake of sustainable soil management approaches and supporting their replication beyond the project’s duration.
